The Antenna can be deployed in different configurations, such as a sloper, inverted V, or inverted L, etc. We find the optimum balance between performance and ease of deployment to be a sloper configuration. Attach the antenna to a support such as a park bench, picnic table, tree, or pole. Use a bungee cord or piece of rope to provide distance between the antenna and support objects. Use a mast or line over a tree branch to raise the end of the antenna wire in the air. Make sure to leave some slack in the wire for adjustments and allow for movement in the wind. 

Pull the antenna wire all the way out. Depending on the desired operating frequency, make small adjustments by reeling in the wire 3-5 turns to shorten the antenna and raise the resonance frequency. With the wire extended all the way out, the antenna will be resonant on the lower parts of the bands.

For our current EFHW antennas, the wire is approximately 66′ 8″, or 20.3 meters.

If you have at least 25 feet of coax, it’s usually not necessary. If you experience RF feedback, you can install a Choke near the radio. 

This is a big debate, and the answers will vary depending on who you ask. The Coax shield will act as a counterpoise; as long as you have at least 25 feet of coax, it’s not really necessary. But if you want to use a counterpoise, you can use a Muller clip to clip it on the outside of the BNC connector.
