How an idea became our foundation

It all started as a little idea. But sometimes little ideas can become a big project.

AA5RX was quietly building EFHW antennas in his garage when the idea came to him. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could wind our wire up on a chalk reel, then adjust our antenna resonance on the fly, and then just reel the antenna up when we are done. And so the idea was born for a lightweight, portable, EFHW antenna that could be adjusted by reeling the wire in or out. We have been through many trial and errors and R&D over the last 3 1/2 years. We have launched three generations of antennas in that time. We have proudly served the Amatuer Radio community here in the USA, and also to over 20 different countries around the world.

Reel POTA-ble EFHW Antenna

Here was our very first version or V1

Our first version used a off the shelf chalk line reel with a box bolted to the back for the toroid and connector. There are still thousands of these in use around the world today.

Then came our V2

After struggling with supply issues during the tariff wars, we started looking for alternatives that removed dependency on other manufacturers. This was the start of our 3D printing process for making our antennas. We also took this opportunity to rebuild our design from the ground up, making our connection system even stronger. This was also the birth of real customization where customers could get what they wanted.

And now we have V3

The new version 3 is totally redesigned for a smaller, more compact, and a much lighter weight antenna. One of the other big changes with V3 was to be Made in the USA. It took many months of searching and testing to get all the right components to meet the proper criteria. We have come a long way from that very first idea in the garage. As with all our antennas the V3 features the same adjustable resonance frequency capabilities.

Built by HAMS for HAMS

As a couple of Amateur Radio Operators AA5RX and N5BSB actively worked portable operations, and developed antennas and products with HAM radio operators in mind.
