We are no longer using the Chalk reel, but making our own from high quality 3D printed parts. The new V2 will offer high quality components like SO239 and BNC connectors with silver plating and Teflon insulators. All Hardware is high quality Stainless Steel, We have now added a counterpoise bolt for those who have previously asked for it. We are now using a much stronger and improved connection system to the wire. The carabiner, and connector protective caps are provided free of charge and are not part of the item price.
THE REEL POTA-ble EFHW Antenna is a truly unique, and versatile portable antenna. Designed for quick and easy deployment with portable operators in mind. The antenna is light, and compact, easy to fit in most Go Bags. It features a 49:1 impedance transformer built in to a reel box. The round spool keeps the flexible silicone 20 ga wire from kinking, and provides smooth deployment and retraction. One of the unique features of the Reel POTA-ble antenna is the integrated active connection between the transformer and the radiating element. This allows for fine tuning, unlike some traditional EFHW antennas with fixed length wire. An example is our antenna is pre-tuned for the lower end of 40 meters, and with 12 cranks of the handle it's now resonant at the top of the band. Please see SWR plots pictures and Video. With the wire fully extended 20, 15, 10 meters are ready to go or may need 3-4 turns reeled in, no tuner required. The Antenna is rated for 100 watts SSB, 50 watts CW, and 35 watts FT8 or other Digital modes. The antenna comes with a Free Carabiner, Free protective connector cap, and a wire end insulator for easy attachments in the field. This is a great POTA, SOTA or Field Day, antenna. All antennas from December 2025 onwards, are now the newer version.

I have had this antenna for about a month and have activated about 8 parks. This antenna has out performed my expectations! One park I made 73 contacts in about an hour! I used my antenna analyzer and figured out how many turns each band was to make them 1:1. I wrote those down and use them every time. I have nothing negative to say about the Reel Port-able antenna.. You won’t be disappointed!

This Antenna Tunes great
The antenna tunes to the low end of the bands with no adjustment, since I’m cw only this suits me fine. Adjusting for SSB would be easy.

Excellent Antenna
I bought this antenna to use for Parks on the Air activations and it performs well for that. I like the ability of having multiple bands to use. It is easy to set up and take down especially with the reel function. I have also used this at home in my backyard as a second EFHW and it seems to perform just as well as my permanent EFHW. I highly recommend this antenna.

I own many many antennas. I bought one of these soon after they became available and have not used it until 2 days ago for 2 POTA activations that resulted in 59s from many US and quite a few international stations after tossing the wire 30-45 feet into branches. The convenience and ease of tunability is ridiculously awesome. If you don’t like the SWR/VNA parameters, crank it in or out a few easy turns, and there you are!!! Crazy easy!

No more tangled wire. So easy to deploy. Quick and convenient.. At full extension my radio is perfectly happy on 40, 20, 15 and 10 metres. With just a few turns I had the WARC bands and 6 metres. Here in Australia we have voice privileges on 30 metres, so it’s going to get a lot of use there. In all, very impressed!

I have one of these antennas and have been using it for a few months now and it truly is the best EFHW on the market. I run it with my manpacks and if the SWR is a little off from where I want it I can just reel in the wire and Im tunned up. It mainly gets used for 40 meters and I have no complaints. And it is the fastest antenna that I can deploy and take down. If your looking at this antenna I strongly recommend purchasing it as I know you will love it as much as me.

This is the quickest antenna I always wanted in my dreams. No kidding! I tried to build an EFHW where I could deploy it quickly but that ended bad and in a bunch of frustration.
I saw this antenna and discovered that it was made 45 minutes from where I live, so I drove over and bought one from Robert.
I’m so glad I did because my SWRs went way down 1.054 to 1 on both 40 and 20 Meters (using my NanoVNA) with this antenna.

After having the bad luck (and rare instance) of it failing after only a couple uses, I reached out to support.
